My little brother did this and was in the reserves on his mission also, somehow.
Then he went to Idaho State and did ROTC. Now because of his enlistment time in the reserves he maxes out the pay grade whenever he is promoted. Not a bad deal.
He was not pleased with his assignment to the AG Corps, though.
