My son turns 6 later this month and for the last couple weeks he says that all he wants for his birthday is a real BYU helmet. I love how BIG of a BYU fan he is and I want to fuel his fandom even more but first of all they are pretty hard to come by and are expensive and thought maybe he would be happy with a small BYU toy helmet that is cheaper and easier to get. I’ve been putting it off for a couple weeks not knowing what to get him.  Yesterday I had my vehicle repaired at Les Schwab and before leaving the shop, I took a moment and complemented the manager about a BYU helmet sitting at the far end of the office, I told him that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a blue BYU helmet used in games? And asked where he got it so I could get my son one for his birthday? He just smiled, went and got it so we could take a closer look. I was talking how I love it when BYU wears the full Royals and wished that they had used such a helmet in games. He explained that Les Schwab is a corporate sponsor and that he had field side tickets a couple years back and was given the helmet as a “corporate gift”. I could tell that he wasn’t a “fan”, or kept up with the game at all from our small conversation but I said it was cool and thanked him for fixing my car. I turned to leave and he says “This helmet has been sitting on that shelf for 2 years and nobody has ever said anything about it…. it’s yours man, hope your kid has an awesome birthday!” I was shocked, asked if he was serious and offered to pay for it but he refused. Totally made my day, I know my kid is going to love it. 
My question is, I can’t find that BYU has ever (recently) used a blue helmet in games, right? I can only find Royals with a white helmet?  the helmet looks real with everything on it, So is this just a "replica gift” for sponsors? Either way it’s really cool looking and wanted to give a shout-out to Les Schwab in Provo. They are awesome! Go Cougs!
