even in the MWC. It’s a big step that Coach Rose hasn’t accomplished yet. I’d say it’s even harder with the Zags being in this conference, sure. It’s still a knock on his resume though.

BYU’s issues haven’t been with the Zags though. We lose conference games to teams we shouldn’t lose to every year. If our only two in-conference losses are just to Gonzaga, then we could probably still get into the tournament. But we’ve shot ourselves in the foot in the past by losing to Pepperdine, Pacific, San Diego, LMU, Santa Clara, etc. All teams we’ve lost to over the past few seasons. And even St Mary’s. Especially this season when they’re in a down year, you can’t lose to them by 20. OOC losses are just as bad, and even worse in some cases, like this year. I give him props for scheduling tougher opponents this year like Nevada, Houston, Miss St, UNLV, and SDSU...but we didn’t win any of those games. At least we’re beating Utah I guess.

Rose has to find a way to get his teams to get over the hump and he just hasn’t.
