My BIL and SIL are trying to help him understand it’s not the end of the world. I am at this point very confused about what BYU’s entrance requirements are as he ended up with a 4.0, multiple AP classes, 32 ACT, just under 100% attendance in seminary, and multiple extra curriculars. His best friend was very similar. Neither of them were accepted. Another two kids in their same school, both who had taken regular classes (neither AP or honors classes) and gotten worse ACT scores, got in.
I really don’t understand the acceptance criteria at this point. It makes zero sense when frankly it seems much like a crap-shoot to get in at this point. My nephew is exactly who BYU has wanted on campus for years, and he has loved BYU his entire life.
I do believe that BYU needs to publish some basic criteria so that kids that are hoping to get in can a least get a sense of what they need to do to get accepted. For many kids, this is their dream and what they had goals for their whole HS years and beyond.
