Your second point about living in/getting back to Utah is a real thing
At least in my experience.
I almost don’t like recruiting from BYU any more. If I have a candidate that is from Utah or their spouse is from Utah, it’s generally a strike against them. If they’re at BYU and are from somewhere else (unless that somewhere else is Arizona), all good. Just been burned too many times with “i really need to get back to Utah” after a year or two of being away.
