Just a word of caution - waiting until later in life to get a policy can be very

risky. There are a million things that can happen to your health, many seemingly very minor, that can make you very expensive to insure (or uninsurable). And these things are more likely to happen the older you get.

This is also the reason that people shouldn’t rely on employer-provided life insurance. If you stay with your employer until age 40 and then change jobs, you might not be able to get insured (or it could be very expensive) if you’ve had any of a number of health issues crop up.

Lock it up while you are young and healthy if you think you’re going to want it later.
