1) These are season tickets that are subsidized for students. It helps get students to games, it helps build lifelong fans, it helps overall make it affordable for students.
ROC passes are NOT season ticket alternatives for adults. Can your kids share their passes? Sure. Can they bring you to a game or two? Sure. But an adult should not use a ROC pass as a season ticket alternative, even if it’s possible. Support the program. Your name has JD/MBA in it. I’m sure you can afford season tickets. They are CHEAP! Support BYU football, support BYU athletics. Buy season tickets and support BYU athletics. They are not all that more than the price of a ROC pass.
2) Students don’t want adults in the ROC. It’s a student section. It’s part of the college experience. And nobody wants cheap adults taking over the section or being there at all. (And there’s a chance your kids don’t either and are just being nice.)
Now maybe you are saying, “I’ll sit towards the top!” or “I’ll stand the whole time!” or “I’m a cool dad!”. Just stop. You know where you can sit towards the top? With traditional season tickets!!
Again, if you want to accompany your kids to a game, maybe two, fine. I wouldn’t, but I kinda get it. If you are a BYU fan and would like season tickets and want to just tag along with your kids, just stop and go actually support the team.
