Actually, a ref who will have a dialogue with a player or coach is usually
Much better. I coach my son’s basketball team, and coaches who will just argue with you or act like you’re crazy when you want a call are terrible and usually escalate any frustration you may have.

If a ref will discuss it with you and explain why they did or did not make a call, or even just say they missed it this time but will keep an eye out are so much better to deal with. I don’t blame a player who wants a similar experience with refs, especially if that is what most of them do.
