I discuss what I think my companies reasoning is here, I don't have all the background on this situation, but I am very certain about the cost numbers, if there is any hint of possible litigation, which happens way more than I thought it would, we take a very different approach to the termination process.
I currently am aware of 4 other employees where I have had to plan for expected legal and separation costs, and those people don't even know they are getting terminated yet, but I have calculated over 150K in expected legal costs for those terminations.
