So many people focus on the graduation of Jimmer and the move to the WCC as the beginning of the slide for BYU Basketball. Most ignore the fact that those events coincided with Dave Rice leaving the program for the head coaching job at UNLV. While he failed as a head coach, he has had a huge impact on both Nevada & Washington in his short time at each of those programs as the basketball version of an OC. His two year deal at Washington is up this year and most likely he will stay and receive a modest raise on his $250k/yr salary. BYU needs to make him an offer to entice him to return to Rose's staff. Even before Jimmer, BYU's offense was beautiful to watch under Rice. They played with a purpose, they pushed the ball under control and were excellent in the secondary break. They were known for their ball movement & player movement in the half court and you could see players getting better as their careers went along. If I'm Dave Rose, my offseason priority would be to get Dave Rice back on staff as Associate Head Coach.
