Sure, I have a spreadsheet that helps me sleep at night with toggles for salary
growth, investments, net worth, etc. (I'm a finance guy with a strong case of OCD). But I also realize that black swan events make a huge difference in life. Forecasting decades out into the future helps us feel good today, but in the long run it will likely look much different (for better or worse). We can only do what we can do.

Will I die at 50? Will my kid get cancer? Will my wife run off with someone else? Will my industry tank and set my career back by a decade? What will social security look like? Will I start a business that fails? Will I start one that is a tremendous success? Who knows?

I'd be curious how many people's finances at 70 were what they expected and planned for at 30.
