We stayed in an Airbnb in Whitefish that was really nice. Wasn't too far from the park and had lots of good amenities. I would just plan a day to spend on the east side of the park and drive really far that day. Then spend the other time on the west. I went too early in the season to really enjoy it (the main road was still closed) but it was still awesome
