Should Dave Rose be looking at Steve Cleveland as an example of preserving his coaching legacy?
Steve Cleveland left BYU of his own accord. Took a job at Fresno for a few years, and then retired.
Because he left on his own, and wasn't fired, he has a generally positive legacy at BYU. He's still welcomed back as a TV analyst and really liked by the fans. The feeling is mutual. I think Steve Cleveland isn't bitter about BYU, and loves coming back.
I wish Dave Rose would follow Cleveland's path. Dave Rose is 61 years old. I don't see him turning BYU around.
And at his age, I don't think he wants to fire his entire coaching staff and bring in new guys. Wish Dave Rose would retire, or pursue a new job where he can coach for a few more years. Otherwise, I think it might get ugly at BYU and destroy his generally positive legacy.
