Yesterday was the first time in five weeks that I jumped rope. I got some sort of stress fracture or something in my foot five weeks ago while playing chasing after my kids. I heard a pretty good pop and couldn't put any weight on it for almost two weeks.
However, I never missed a day in the gym. I switched over to a half hour on the assault bike and then either a half hour on the rowing machine or doing the speed bag (this last activity was more recent since I could hardly stand on my right foot at first).
These activities combined with my usual 20-30 mins of lifting kept me in good enough shape to jump right back into jump roping and I even put on some lean muscle mass.
