Exactly. We should have learned this from the Doman experiment
BD tried something similar with similar results.
The whole thing reinforced my respect for the value of directly comparable experience, particularly in the short term.
If you’re going to hire someone who lacks this experience but you hope will grow into something great, giving them an abundance of time seems reasonable as well. We didn’t do this with either Doman or Detmer.
