I've had a few different pairs of hiking boots and Salomon has been my favorite by far. This is what I currently have:

I had found them on Amazon several months ago for quite a bit cheaper. Although, the Amazon pricing is similar to the REI at the moment.

I've had Keens and Vasque in the past. The Keens were comfortable but didn't last long. The Vasque boots just killed my toes - not a fan.
You may want to check out Sierra Trading Post (sierra.com) for some good deals too. They carry older models but their inventory and sizes can be pretty limited. If you're patient and regularly checking, you'll find some great bargains on occasion.
