Overall the event was pretty boring. The actors and producers being involved was kind of cool but for the most part it dragged a bit. But I saw elsewhere that someone commented that consumers weren't the target of today's event as much as normal. The target audience was the potential partners and content producers who either haven't signed up or are dragging their feet in negotiations. That perspective makes sense to me.
It is clear they are trying to accomplish an a la carte set up, which is something many consumer have wanted for years, but when they flashed the available list of providers it was relatively disappointing. But if you could piece together a "cable" plan from more studios today's announcements would be a win for consumers. They didn't set the world on fire with the event today but they demonstrated pretty well how this content will benefit and be connected to customers.
So was today also about a demo for the feet-dragging production partners?
