Born and raised in LA, so I've always followed the Lakers and was lucky enough to go to games from time to time.

I always cheered for the Jazz whenever I saw them on TV as well. But then I went to BYU. Holy crap, Jazz fans are obsessive over their hate toward the Lakers. Countless times I had people who would non-humorously judge me when they found out I was a Lakers fan and I'd be watching the games. Like, they thought I was a bad person. They'd ask questions like "how on earth could you support that team when they have (cue gross face)...Kobe?? He's such a terrible person!"

I was blindsided at first - had no idea Jazz fans hated the Lakers so much. Even when I'd tell them I liked the Jazz too, it didnt matter. If I had the game on, they'd sit there and laugh every time the Lakers missed a shot, etc. Obnoxious.

By the time I left BYU, I couldnt help but to dislike the Jazz because of the annoying fans.

The best is when I'd ask them if they'd prefer to see the Lakers lose or the Jazz win. A surprising number said they'd rather see the Lakers lose, no thought about it. Sad way to be a "fan".
