He says that we should be cheering Rudy's dunks record tonight more so than we were cheering on Jimmer.

I was at the game, and the problem that I noticed with his logic is that I didn't even hear anything during the game about a broken record. When I heard about it, it was on the radio when I was driving home. I had no idea that that even happened! If there was an announcement, it was sure subdued. However, I could see with my own eyes when Jimmer would make a bucket. So of course I was cheering that more.

He also tries to make the point that BYU/Jazz fans need to appreciate Rudy for being such a special player. I don't know a single one who doesn't appreciate Rudy and who doesn't appreciate what he does. However, we EXPECT Rudy to excel. He is an incredible player and a great competitor. We all know he's very capable so it wasn't too surprising what he did.

On the other hand, Jimmer hasn't been in the league for several years. He's finally getting his chance to live his dream and play in the NBA once again. So of course we're going to cheer for him! It doesn't mean that we don't respect or appreciate what Rudy does. It might very well be the last time that we get to see Jimmer play in the NBA.

That commentator is a fool.
