David Locke says he's been told by coaches that Jimmer hasn't been
very receptive to embracing that type of role. That criticism was made public by a Pelicans coach at one point I believe. I'll give Jimmer the benefit of the doubt and believe that it wasn't that he refused to embrace a smaller role, it's that he wasn't good enough to do so at the NBA level. NBA level marksmen are elite at what they do. It's hard to think of a perfect comparison in other sports, but the first thing that comes to mind is NFL kickers. There are a lot of great college kickers, but making it as an NFL kicker is nearly impossible. Only the best of the best make it and even then, one or two missed kicks and a guy is being replaced. Korver is 37 and still one of the best marksmen in the NBA. If more players were able to do what he and Reddick do, Korver probably wouldn't be in the NBA anymore.
