They do, it’s just Top-8 protected
They have about a 55% chance of keeping their pick. They wanted to win games this year so they could convey the pick this year to the Celtics because it’s such a weak draft. If they keep their pick next year it’s Top-6 protected and then Top-3 protected and then finally unprotected.
