When I'm really tired, I actually prefer Outlander because there aren't as many characters to keep straight.

I read some of the books because my wife recommended them... full of sex. I found myself skipping pages at a time because it just became too much, but the story is fun.

Anyway, I think it's a great series. I can't compare it to much else because I don't watch much TV, but I enjoy it a lot.
