not lame, the los angeles lakers would still have more even if you don't count
what the franchise did in Minneapolis. They moved to LA in 1960. What people don't remember is how good the Celtics were once they got to the finals and how bad LA was in the finals for a long stretch. And it was Celtics beating the Lakers in the 1960s over and over again that really skews the perception of who has been to the finals more. Elgin Baylor i think was 0-8 in the finals as a laker. The Celtics also had a huge drought after Larry Bird where they made the finals in 1987 and didn't make it again until 2008 and 2010. In that drought LA made the finals 7 times. And when Boston did finally make it back to the finals they played the Lakers both times.

Mineappolis won 6 conference championships... not enough alone to account for the gap between the two franchises in conference championships. Its just that nobody cares about conference championships. Its all about what you do in the finals.
