easier to get into if you're not in Utah. If you and your kids live in Utah, then sometimes the U or USU is your only option. It's not like those schools are bad schools academically. I get it, really. I heard from someone that the reason it's so difficult for Utah HS students to get in vs non-Utah HS students is because the church and BYU admin feel that the public schools in Utah provide great lds environments for students. Whereas a non-Utah HS student doesn't have as good lds environment at the local public state schools. Therefore, BYU allows those students to have a slightly easier path for admission. BYU also wants to extend the BYU experience outside of Utah, so they aren't as stringent with folks outside of Utah.
