Using their legal team to crush any opposition to their marginally justifiable "not for profit" status, using the LDS donor population to crush labor dissputes nationally while they treat their low level employees poorly, falsely advertise that they are the primary blood providers for places like children's hospitals, etc.
For patients that require lots of blood and become aebsitized, each transfusion becomes as complicated as an organ transplant. These patients (cancer, transplant, autoimmune, etc) are actively kept alive but transfusion medicine specialists who are some of the hardest working most dedicated people in medicine. The ability to retain these professionals and their expertise is undercut by Red Cross who using their political pull to dominate the industry while failing to provide the kind of value-added patient-centered services that local do or centers and transfusion medicine specialists provide.
