I’m a root beer collector and root beer flavors vary a lot.
Want a more Vanilla taste? Or licorice? Maybe a more caramel or butterscotch taste? Bolder, deeper flavor? Or lighter? Do you extend out your palette to sarsaparillas and birch beers? (A Reading Draft White Birch is one of my favorite all time beverages)
Ultimately, it depends what you like. If your looking for a sampler of different ones, go for:
Hanks-overall standard root beer favor.
Thomas Kemper - honey sweetened. Good flavor, and pretty common to find, and pretty unique.
Johnnie Ryan - cane sugar flavored. Lighter and crisper. One of the few lighter ones I like, along with Reading Draft.
Crater Lake - bolder and deeper flavor. Easily in my top 5, but I prefer the bolder flavors.
Brownies - has a caramel flavor to it. Don’t knock it til you try it.
If you have a flavor preference, let me know and I can give you some good recommendations, I’ve had over a hundred different kinds of root beer.
