Those are still just blind assumptions about a comparison. It doesn't all equal out like that. Look into him and you'll see, rather than just making assumptions about coming from an SEC school and giving them all the credit in the world for no other reason other than reputation. There's a reason guys leave as grad transfers. They usually can't get it done and win playing time. Except in this case he was getting beat out multiple years in a row by very average guys. When donner lazily says all he needs is a chance, it shows he hasn't even looked into the guy. He was 2nd string (behind an average guy who was so average he switched to DB the next year) and they were looking to him to step up and be the #1 guy the next year. He never took that step and took advantage of the opportunity and by fall camp wasn't the top guy or really the 2nd guy. Two more very average and much lower rated guys beat him out for reps.

It is what it is. Could he break out at BYU and run wild? Sure he could. Is it likely? No. He doesn't have top end speed. He doesn't have one run of 40 yds in his career. He never made it to 100 carries. At what point do people need to look at a guy and stop referring to his recruiting stars ages ago? At what point do they no longer matter. Hundreds of 4 star guys don't turn out. We see it at BYU.

He's got some production but he never took the step with the opportunities given to him. It's not like Marcus Lattimore was there to hold him off from the #1 spot. He couldn't beat out average guys and earn the reps.

What I will say is that even without top end speed, he's got a quickness to him where I hope we utilize him out in space. That's where he could really do some damage. Everything he ever did that was big came on the outside. We can take advantage of that. Get him the ball in space and let him make the first guy miss.

Yes he could rack up big games against some of the weak teams but what does that even mean? That doesn't make him special or NFL draft material. Katoa or Esukpa or Allgeier could rack up big games as well.
