Ideas as to why cops do what they do, yet your assumptions are likely wrong.
A turn signal violation isn’t likely the last thing an officer is looking for when establishing a DUI driving pattern. They usually are looking at lane travel, appropriate speeds, etc. Sure minor things like failure to signal might come into play, but it isn’t usually indicative of DUI.
