The Lakers just won a championship in 2010. Only 5 teams have won since then. So if the Lakers are past their prime, what does that make everyone else in the league? There were 7 years between the Lakers 3-peat in 2002 and their next championship in 2009.

I'm sure plenty of people were saying Lakers were "past their prime" after the Showtime Lakers in the 80's, then the Lakers went on to win 5 championships in the Phil Jackson era.

Plenty of valid criticisms to make about the Lakers but this was not one of them.
