The mob was angry because of the mistakes, and NHL officials therefore "took the high road" by throwing the underlings under the bus while they have absolutely no skin in the game.

Still, to wish ill on the fans and the players because they had some lucky breaks is lame. Most champions have some luck along the way. The angry spite is just funny to me, not that I've not found myself in the same place at earlier stages in my life--even as recently as yesterday.
