Neither of us were attending BYU at that time, but she had some former roommates who somehow had a few extra tickets to the famous Jimmer game in Provo.

My girlfriend wasn't a big sports fan but she went herself because she wanted to socialize with her old college friends. However, she declined an extra ticket for me because she figured I wouldn't want to go because I wouldn't know anybody in her group of friends.

She had no idea what a big deal that game was. In fact, as she was telling me about it (later the next week), she wasn't even sure that BYU had won. She spent the whole time talking to her friends. She was observant enough to note that "Everybody seemed really worked up about that game.'' SMH forever....
