SDSU dislike has been there a long time - predating 1990.
Getting smashed by BYU in the late '70's in the old WAC really got to them. I used to live there. I was sitting in the SDSU area in Jack Murphy stadium during the 1986 and have firsthand a account of the vitriol. The most defining example of this vitriol is the Chris Ello anti-BYU radio rant.
