What makes iOS and Android so powerful is the app market. That is something that has been built early on and is extremely far ahead of others.

Windows Mobile and Web OS couldn't even come close and they were early in the game and had huge backing. You think someone now could just come in and take it over? Only way possible is if Android was completely cut off and killed which won't happen.

You start adding multiple flavors of mobile OS platforms and the only thing it will do is revive iOS which has consistency and demand.
