At my college graduation, about 30 minutes before the start my family all arrived with the exception of my pregnant sister and her husband. My wife absolutely HATES to save seats. She just won't do it. But when my brother-in-law called her on the cell to ask where they were sitting and to tell her they were walking in with about 15 minutes to go, she told him there were a couple of seats still open next to her and that she would save them for him.

About 5 minutes later (10 minutes before the start) this Black family wanders in and makes their way down to the front of the auditorium. Coming down the stairs right behind them is my pregnant sister and brother-in-law.

When they arrive at the row where my wife is, they see the two seats and ask to get by. My wife says "I'm sorry, those seats are taken".

"Oh...You White people are too good for us, huh?!? Don't want to have to sit by a Black person?!?! Come on Mom, you don't want to sit by these racist pigs anyway!"

Anyway - your story reminded me of that. Good times - wife was upset enough at being called a racist pig I'm not even sure she saw me get my diploma. 🙂
