I've had to tell friends and family members, "Sorry, I don't save seats."
It's not fun to have to tell people that, but seat savers are incredibly annoying and I refuse to be one. I'm a firm believer that the only thing that can save a seat is your butt.
Once you've already arrived at an event and sat down, you should have the right to go to the bathroom without losing your seat, but it's not yours until you've sat in it.

I think it's okay to save seats until 5-10 min after start, after which it's all over. You must withdraw
