About 8 years ago I was at the BYU Fathers and Sons camp playing ultimate frisbee. I was backing up to catch a frisbee, and before I could get to the frisbee I was blindside tackled/laid out violently, causing my head to snap back and then slammed to the ground. A former BYU football player got off me and said, “don’t take the frisbee from kids!” I was shocked / in disbelief I had just been tackled like that. I didn’t know what to say. I totally agree with him that adults should not steal frisbees from kids - I had no idea I had done that. The head Byu trainer was in our group and saw it, and came up to me and said don’t say anything to the former football player that tackled me, because he has a big temper. Great thing is the next year at the camp the head trainer sought me out and said the former football player reach out to him to apologize to me. No hard feelings, all is well just an interesting story how competition can bring out the worst in people sometimes.
