Talking to a guy regarding a few of his hobbies. Everything I say next is paraphrased from what I remember him saying.
He said he made an iron man suit and took it to comiccon and was showing it off in a costume competition (or something like that). It had a propane flame thrower and moving parts; when he came off the stage at the halloween contest a man came straight up to him and said "I will give you $65k cash for that." He took it off and the guy gave him 65k.
Later, he said he has 3D printed a few suits since then and is working on 3D printing a carbon fiber suit for which a guy has already placed the order. The guy will pay 120k for it.
When asked about the 3D printer, he told us that he bought a really nice one for about 6k. He then used that to 3D print 6 more 3D printers and returned this expensive one so he got 6 3D printers for the cost of the material only.
He also pulled out his iPad pro (the big one) and someone asked how much the iPad cost him because he was interested in buying one. He said he didn't know, because he 3D printed this one. He had to buy a few things like the camera and screen, but he was able to 3D print the mother board. This was a little difficult because there is mercury in apple computer products so he had to break a bunch of thermometers to get mercury out. After he printed the iPad and put it together, he then downloaded a jail broken IOS for his iPad. It has lasted him 3 years so far. He went into alot of detail, and it sounded very convincing.
