I'm not going to join the lynch mob against Toronto fans.
Cheering when KD went down was awful, sure. But I'm going to give Toronto fans a break. What I saw last night was a crazy, rabid fanbase who intensely loves their team and desperately wanted to win. They were giving KD crap all night, and then he went down. In that moment--that split second--they let raw, unfiltered emotion get the best of them and they went with their gut reactions. Unfortunate, in hindsight, but understandable.

They quickly came to their senses and gave KD a nice applause as he made his way to the back.

In a perfect world, everyone would recognize instantly that what just happened was devastating and shouldn't be celebrated. But it's not a perfect world, and human beings make big mistakes. Especially when they express their gut reactions as visibly as Toronto fans did.

Who among us can say we haven't experienced the same thing? I know I'm guilty. Here are just a few examples:

When Gordon Hayward went down in the first game of the first season after spurning the Jazz and treating our organization like garbage, my first thoughts were not good ones.

When Coleby Clawson hit Sam Bradford and separated his shoulder, I was not unhappy.

When any significant contributor for Utah's football team goes down, I'm usually thinking about the positive news that'll be for BYU.

I'm sorry guys, I'm a human being who sometimes makes mistakes in judgement. Fortunately I always correct myself and I'm trying to be better. That's why I'm willing to extend some understanding to the good people of Toronto.

Ham out.
