This is kind of an interesting question that my family is about to...
...have to address.

My kids are getting older. Just had our first get married a couple of years ago. So with the non-married kids, it makes sense for them to take a family vacation with us. I mean, my one kid who is out of school and has a job now also goes on trips herself or with friends. But she always comes to the "family vacation" too.

As a parent - I'm not going to tell my now-married son that he's no longer invited to come. And with the advent of VRBO, instead of having to get a bunch of hotel rooms we can get one big place that fits everyone. Last summer we went to San Diego and rented a home that had a separate apartment attached, where my son and his wife stayed and had their own space, but could join the rest of us too.

As the other kids get older, marry, have kids, etc, it will be interesting to see how all of this evolves. Again, as a parent and as long as I can afford to do so, we'll invite the kids (and eventually grandkids) to join us. I hope that they'll all continue to get along great as they do now and want to come - though I won't expect it or hold it against them if they don't.
