My friend's son played on an AAU team one summer with Dowdell and I watched a few games. Granted, the kids were younger then and still developing, but all I remember is Dowdell believing he was destined to shoot it every time. Never thought of passing it, never thought that handling the ball would be a vital skill for a guard, never thought that defense was a major part of the game. In watching Olympus through the years, I watched the same behavior. To compare Jeremy Dowdell to Rylan Jones in skill level is not even close. I believe Dowdell will be an outstanding shooter because that's what he does at an elite level--one of the best shooters I've ever seen. Unfortunately, there are two ends to a basketball court and many skills that separate one guy from another in skill level and influence on the game.
