What would you love about AAC just out of curiosity? As a life long BYU fan here
Is my two cents:

Indy gives us a very exciting front loaded schedule. I like playing these teams even when it means a 7-5 average record or 8-4 average. I don’t get excited about winning more games just by playing fewer tough games. The AAC isn’t a terrible football conference, but it’s not a conference we run through. So not sure how it helps us do more.

AAC gives us the opportunity to compete for a conference championship, but in a conference that I don’t care to win. To me a conference championship doesn’t matter. I’ve never understood why it matters. I get excited when we have a shot at national recognition and I don’t see how that increases playing in the AAC. We have to have just as special of a season with the AAC to get to NY6 as we do as an independent. Basically you have to go undefeated or one loss. Does playing in the AAC increase that?

The AAC has some fun opponents, but by and large difficult opponents to travel to and ones that are not exactly known for their “incredible atmosphere.” I have never had more fun than going to some of the road venues of independence. Of course we would still play some P5 games, and I get that. But the AAC doesn’t increase those opportunities top play fun road games and at least with our Indy schedule most of the back end teams are easier games to travel to for most BYU fans. Playing half our games in the eastern time zone seems like a recipe for many fewer fans to see games.

Joining the AAC all but cements not playing Utah every year. Indy certainly makes it easier to figure that game out and, while I want to cry every time we lose, I would like to play that game as frequently as possible.

Other sports wise the AAC is a travel nightmare. It improves basketball schedule quite a bit, that’s a plus. But it seems like a logistical nightmare.

That’s my two cents, and it’s why I don’t favor AAC over Indy. Sincerely curious why would you love to join the AAC?
