Nothing any of them have ever offered has made it seem worth it to me...

to actually attend one. I'll just pay for my own lodging or buy my own whatever. But if you're willing to go sit through one of those things, whether you intend to buy whatever they're selling you or not, then you've definitely earned whatever it is they're giving you. Nothing dishonest about it.
