Just got back from a week in Austin/San Antonio. Couple thoughts on that part of Texas..
1. Texas Hill Country and Austin are absolutely beautiful. The scenery was spectacular. I may be easy to please, but I was impressed.
2. Holy cow the humidity and heat are relentless.
3. Buc-ees is a treasure! $0.79 large drinks, chopped brisket tacos, sausage and cheese kalaches, fresh beef jerky, etc. I think we went everyday. Would love to have them in California.
4. Our Texas relatives said Rudy's BBQ is good. Heck yes it was, two enthusiastic thumbs up! Yes, there were other great BBQ places, but for the price, Rudy's unique service style and quality was great.
5. I had been to Dallas and Houston many times, but this was my first time to the area. Pretty cool place, just would take time to adjust to the humidity.
