He's gotten better. I remember when he used to get so excited during a big play (whether it was BYU's play or the other teams) that he would just start screaming into the microphone and couldn't even describe what was happening. It would drive my wife nuts, but I would just laugh.
But back to my point....
I have listened to a lot of Wrubell games. He is a homer, without a doubt. But in EVERY game, there has always been a moment when he says that a BYU player got away with a foul, or deserved a penalty that was called, or somehow pointed out that BYU was in the wrong.
On the other hand - while I haven't listened to nearly as many games called by Riley - I have listened to multiple games when he was never able to have that same objectivity. Every foul/penalty was undeserved. And several were not called on the other team but should've been.
Look - I'm not saying Wrubell is objective by any means. I'm just saying that Riley has taken several large bounds beyond Wrubell towards the "no objectivity" end of the level of objectivity scale.
