An Ecoboost Ford is an amazingly quiet truck, which may or may not be your thing. There is something cool about the sound of a V8.
I had a 2.7 Ecoboost and loved it. It is the most bang for your buck of any full size truck. I averaged 22 MPG for my daily commute. No V8 will currently do that, no matter what is advertised. It also towed smoother than a traditional V8. I have towed the same 20' pontoon with the old Ford 4.6 (pathetic), Tundra 5.7, Titan 5.6, Ford 6.0 Diesel, and the 2.7 Eco. By far, the smoothest and most effortless towing experience was the 2.7.
After the Ford and GMs is the Ram. I know, I'm still leery of Chrysler quality, too, but most Ram owners do love their trucks. Very nice riding trucks. The best ride in the industry.
The Tundra gets the highest quality marks, but the current generation is now way outdated. The ride is rough, engine loud, and the gas mileage the worst of any current truck.
The current Titan would have been a great competitor had it come out about 7-9 years ago. It's a good enough truck, but nothing about it is class leading. It's not a bad truck, but only price should make you consider it over the others. If price is the same, consider one of the top three instead.
