Mine - I have three....

BASKETBALL -
A group of us got together to watch BYU vs Ol Miss basketball game in the NCAA Tournament about 5 or so years ago. BYU dominated the first half and had a 20+ point lead at the half.
We were all celebrating and talking about how were were going to joke around with our co-worker who graduated from Ol’ Miss because she was an obnoxious fan. We talked about the next round and how we might make a little run into the year’s tournament.
The second half was a disaster for BYU and Ol’ Miss Loy it up from behind the arc.
Bad loss for the Cougars and yes. We all celebrated they win (really a loss) way to early. It was hard going to work the next day, seeing my Ol’ Miss co-worker.

Close second....
I had a similar experience with the BYU-Syracuse NCAA BB tournament game. We played so well for much of the game and I was convince they we had that game won late. Then Jerry McNamera happened. He killed us in the end - he had a monster game.

FOOTBALL -
I went to the UVA vs BYU football game in VA. (Yes - the thunder-rain delay game). We completely outplayed them. We had the game won in the LATE 4th quarter. The BYU section was all celebrating, believing we were going to win the game. Then with just a few minutes left, threw the pass back through the hands of Williams. The backward pass became a VA touchdown within a few seconds and cougar fans couldn’t believe it. WE HAD THE GAME WON.....We didn’t need to pass on that play.....heartbreaker.

Those three recent games greatly impacted me and now I have very little confidence that we can finish a game with a lead while watching a game live - even with a big lead. As I watched the BYU-UU Football game last year, I was so worried about our 20 point half time lead and wasn’t convinced at all we would/could win....and look what happened. Yes - the second half’s devastating injuries and pick-six ultimately killed us.

It ain’t over until the fat guy.....
