Trails can get very dusty
A few years ago, took som boys thru the Sisters mainly along the crest trail. Was so much trail dust we had to walk about 30 yards apart. Felt like a solo hike for everyone.
Check trail conditions at closest ranger station.

It is cool. I’m just not sure how much you gain by backpacking vs just driving

Check out trails around and on the W side of the Three Sisters. Plenty of great hikes in there.

Any suggestions? It can be tough to know where to start with so many.

Consider climbing the South Sister. We did it 2 years ago. Very doable for anyone 12 and up that is in

How about a 5 year old? Too hard?

I wouldn't take a 5yo. Too long and hard.
