new car I think they are better served getting their EVs ready to launch. The viper is a halo car and Ford has the mustang for the masses. A mid engine layout isnt needed for an electric performance car, so even building the chassis to accept both gasoline and electric configurations is cost prohibitive.
Chevy has always been able to sell tons of corvettes, and that coupled with the years of dev time they put into it before tesla started finally producing cars at scale made it possible for them. Chrysler will continue to sell its demons and hellcats, and ford will continue to sell its mustangs. I'm really looking forward to the second gen evs from all these established manufacturers. It will be neat to finally see some more new models on the road.
