Not exactly what he said.
For a religious person that sees active homosexuality as sin, it would be perfectly normal to not want to take a family to see the normalization of such acts. You don't have to agree, to each his own. But it's not ridiculous--just ridiculous to you given your own personal values.

As a 'live and let live' libertarian, I find it frustrating that we expect people to share our values or else they're being dumb or, worse, evil. We all believe different things. Why isn't that okay?
