My little culdesac (and my own property) borders some railroad tracks. This land happens to be one of the only plots of land in all of Utah where trees grow naturally (I'm constantly pulling sprouts out of the ground). Anyway, there's a fence separating our culdesac and the tracks. Our homes were build in 2015, and ever since then trees have been growing unchecked on the other side of the fence. The trees are now tall and threaten to do damage to our fence. We can trim them back, but eventually the trunks and root systems will damage the fence anyway. We've contacted the railroad company several times and they basically brush us off. They say they have bigger priorities. It's a federal offence to remove the trees ourselves. Anyway, I'm afraid we might have to get a lawyer involved to get them to take action. I was being facetious about suing. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. I'm hoping a strongly worded letter from an attorney can get the job done. What type of attorney do I need to speak to? And are the railroad companies just so big that we're like gnats and it's going to take an act of Congress to get those trees removed?
